Reviewing Your Database

Date: November 15, 2011

Dear Iowa One Call Member,

Iowa One Call (IOC) is pleased to announce that it has acquired updated street data for use with our PRISM system. These updated base maps should increase the efficiency of the call taking process and further reduce some of the out of area tickets some members may be receiving. Before the new street data can be implemented, all members must have the opportunity to confirm the accuracy of their notification area database. We would like to take this opportunity to offer you a new way to review and verify the accuracy of your notification area – you may now verify your database utilizing IMAP, our free internet-based software tool.

Reviewing Your Database Via IMAP

Many IOC members are already familiar with and use IMAP on a regular basis, and the feedback we’ve received has been very positive. If you have not yet signed up for IMAP but would like to do so to have access to verify your database on line, please send an email to Please provide your company name, contact name, individual email address, contact phone number and CDC code. Once entered into the system, you will then be assigned a secure login and password that will give you access to view your database as it appears on the new base map. Having IMAP access will also give you the opportunity to make changes to your notification area anytime you wish. Please note that logins and passwords MUST NOT BE SHARED.

If you are already set up for access to IMAP, simply log in using your secure log in and password. Once logged in you will see a module entitled “Review Base Map Changes.” This will allow you to review your existing database in the context of the new base map. Simply click the button and the familiar IMAP screen will appear. Please review your entire notification area as it appears in the new base map data to ensure that it is accurate.

If you find it necessary to modify your area of notification as a result of changes to the base map, please send an email to for further assistance. DO NOT attempt to make modifications to your database while in the “Review Base Map Changes” section of IMAP.

If you are in need of paper copies of maps to complete this process, please send an email to
